Purpose:
- A space devoted to Nobel Literature Prize winner Mr.Gabriel García Márquez which is set to promote reading, written culture and the arts in the city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, and which shall act as a stimulating, ruling and promotional center for culture in such region.

Why is it dedicated to García Márquez?
- In 1961 García Márquez came to Mexico by way of this border town, along with his family he boarded a train which was destined for Mexico City, where shortly after, one of his greatest novels was written: One Hundred Years of Solitude.
- The García Márquez family preserves affectionate memories of Our City, that same city which offered them their first images and memories of Mexico - the way a Mexican meal tasted, its beautiful sceneries and spaces-.
- These are some of the reasons for which the Antigua Railway Station in Nuevo Laredo has been converted into a center for the promotion of Literature, this way, a homage is given to this extraordinary writer every single day.
